Communities
Succession is the process by which the structure of a biological community evolves over time.
Primary succession is the succession of plant life, occurring in an environment in which new substrate devoid of vegetation and other organisms usually lacking soil.
Secondary succession is a process started by an event (e.g. forest fire, harvesting, hurricane) that reduces an already established ecosystem (e.g. a forest or a wheat field) to a smaller population of species

Primary succession occurs in a place devoid of ideal living and or growing conditions while secondary succession occurs after a natural occurrence or disaster like a forest fire or tornado.
